Rides home after sedation across Central Kentucky

The facility will not let you leave alone. We are the ride home.

If your procedure involves sedation, they will not discharge you to a taxi and they will not discharge you to yourself. Book us for the day and that requirement is handled.

Most people booking this do not have anybody free that day. That is the normal reason to call us, not an unusual one.

What the facility asks for All three covered
A named adult, not a rideshare
Someone present at discharge
Taken home, not left at the curb

Licensed and insured in Kentucky. Drivers are First Aid, AED, and CPR certified, as required by the state.

The rule

Why they cancel procedures at the front desk

Sedation is the reason. It stays in your system for hours after you feel fine, and every facility has a policy built around that.

What the facility requires A responsible adult to take you home What does not count
A taxi A rideshare Driving yourself
Why they are strict about it Judgment and balance are impaired for hours after sedation, even when you feel completely normal. The nurse is not being difficult. They have seen what happens when this rule is not enforced.
What happens if you turn up without one They cancel. You lose the prep, the fasting, the day off work, and the appointment slot, and you rebook weeks out. The prep is the part nobody wants to repeat.
Most places want a name in advance Somebody named, and somebody physically present when you are discharged. Ask your facility what they need on the form and tell us.
What we do We are that ride Book us for your procedure date and the transportation requirement is answered. If your facility needs a name in advance, we give them one. Handled

Nobody plans to need this. Most people find out three days before, which is exactly when they call us.

Wait or come back

Do we wait, or do we come back?

Both work. Which one is right depends on how long you are in there and how certain the timing is, and the cost is different.

Compare the two
Your driver stays on site the whole time You are not calling anyone when you come out, you are not waiting in a lobby, and nobody is coordinating anything while you are still groggy.
Best for Shorter procedures, uncertain finish times, and anyone without a family member managing the day. What it costs Wait time is billed as an add on, so this costs more.
What we recommend If nobody is with you, have us wait Coming out of sedation and being asked to coordinate a pickup is exactly the situation everyone is trying to avoid. If somebody is there with you, coming back is usually the better value.

Tell us how long the procedure runs and we will tell you which one makes sense, including when the cheaper option is the right one.

What we drive people to

The procedures we do this for most

Anything where you are sedated and sent home the same day.

Ohana van at an endoscopy center entrance Most common by far Usually 90 minutes
Colonoscopy and endoscopy Usually early morning and always requiring a ride. If you are reading this three days before yours, you are in the most common situation we handle.
Ohana van outside an eye surgery center Comes in pairs Usually 2 hours
Cataract surgery Almost always one eye at a time, with the second scheduled a few weeks later. Book both at once and we hold the dates.
Ohana van waiting outside a dental surgery office Often overlooked Usually 1 to 2 hours
Dental surgery under sedation Wisdom teeth, implants, extractions. Same rule, and often the one people least expect to apply.
Ohana van at a cardiac center entrance Longer day Usually Up to 4 hours
Cardiac catheterization Longer, with recovery observation before discharge. These are the ones where waiting versus coming back is worth an actual conversation.
Ohana van at a same day surgery center Home the same day Usually 2 to 3 hours
Minor orthopedic and same day surgery Scopes, hand surgery, injections under sedation. Home the same day and not driving yourself for at least twenty four hours.

If your procedure is not listed, the rule is the same. If they are sedating you, they will not let you leave alone, and we cover it.

What the day looks like

Booked once, handled from the driveway back

One call sets up the whole day. Here is what actually happens.

Before the day You tell us the details Which facility, what time you check in, and roughly how long they told you it runs. If your facility needs the name of your ride in advance, ask us and we provide it.
Morning of We pick you up On time and at your door. Nobody is fasting since midnight and also trying to arrange a ride at seven in the morning.
During We wait or we come back Whichever you booked. If you asked us to wait, your driver is there when you come out.
After We take you in, not to the curb Your driver walks you inside, because getting home is not the same as getting in the door when you have been sedated four hours earlier and your balance is not what you think it is. Door through door

The part that matters most is the last twenty feet, and it is the part almost every other option skips.
